The Oklahoma Nursing Student Assistance Program offers tuition assistance in return for a rural service commitment, but it’s unclear whether it applies to currently licensed RNs who are just wishing to finish up the BSN.

RN to BSN Requirements in Oklahoma
RN Licensure: Online RN to BSN degrees are classified as “post-licensure” programs. That means Oklahoma colleges & universities will expect you to have—or be in the process of earning—an RN license. If you’re still waiting to sit the NCLEX exam, you may have some leeway. For example, SWOSU’s Online RN to BSN will accept aspiring RNs as long as they provide proof of RN licensure by the end of their first semester.
- The Oklahoma Board of Nursing will be able to answer any questions you may have about state licensure.
- The Board also posts NCLEX Pass Rates for Oklahoma colleges & universities. These statistics don’t apply to post-licensure programs, but we always like to use them as a general quality marker.
State Authorization: Do you live outside of Oklahoma? Most Oklahoma Online RN to BSN programs are happy to accept RNs who are residents of other states, but it’s not a hard-and-fast rule. For example, in NWOSU’s Online RN to BSN, out-of-state residents are considered on an individual basis.
Frequently Asked Questions
Are 100% Online RN to BSN Programs in Oklahoma Available?
Yes. It’s the norm for Oklahoma Online RN to BSN programs to be 100% online, with no campus visits required. OUHSC’s Online RN to BSN even offers a choice! You can opt for a 100% online version or attend optional monthly Saturday classes on the OUHSC campus.
Just keep in mind that accredited RN to BSN programs will still contain practicums in your local community and/or place of employment.
Can I Choose a “No Clinicals” Online RN to BSN in Oklahoma?
Not really. Because of accreditation rules, BSN-level programs almost always include practicums. However, these fieldwork experiences won’t be like the clinicals of your associate degree or diploma. Instead, they’ll typically focus on training in leadership & community/public health. For example:
- OPSU’s 100% Online RN to BSN includes practicums in Nursing Leadership and Community Health Nursing.
- SWOSU’s 100% Online RN to BSN contains practical learning experiences, which may be completed by the student on their own time.
- UCO’s 100% Online RN to BS includes practice experience projects. For example, students in the Community Health course complete a health promotion project at a time and location that works for them.
Do I Need Statistics to Apply for Oklahoma Online RN to BSN Programs?
Maybe. Some Online RN to BSN programs in Oklahoma definitely list it as a prerequisite (e.g. OSU, NSU, UCO, etc.); some don’t. In NWOSU’s Online RN to BSN, statistics can be taken as a prerequisite OR a co-requisite while you tackle your degree. Check the curriculum & admissions links in our listings and contact the RN to BSN program coordinator if you have questions.
Are There Any Online RN to BSN to MSN Programs in Oklahoma?
Not that we could find. Oklahoma City University’s 46-credit Online RN to MSN pathway appears to skip the BSN. You’ll only have to take three BSN-level classes before beginning graduate-level coursework. But you’re welcome to explore options in other states. Check out the online offerings in our directory of RN to BSN to MSN Programs.
